WTF

Sometimes I totally love people.

Sometimes... I am honestly really confused and shocked by them.

Evan and I were at Del Mar, a mexican food place by our apartment. It's nothing special or local, just a corporate food chain restaurant. But it's food and it's within walking distance so we go.

They had little table tents with info about how they're "Going Green".

It was clearly a lie.

Do they take me for a FOOL??

insult me with your common sense ideas while I eat

I can't tell you that I know all of the facts about polystyrene (styrofoam) but I can assume that there's a better choice for them to make when it comes to the cups they use.

When people give "duh" solutions to "going green" it sorta annoys me.

Don't tell me things that are common sense - that is insulting!

Walk instead of drive? Oh really??

Don't turn up the heat - put on a sweater! Aaahhhrrg.

Replace your light bulbs with compact fluorescent ones? Ok tell me something I haven't already done 5 years ago.

How about - don't use materials that are not biodegradable!!!

(grrr.. sorry to rant)

Etsy for ME

I love Etsy.

LOVE.

So far, though, I've only made purchases for other people. I think it's because I'm trying to save money and not buy myself everything that I want. Which - on Etsy - is EVERYTHING.

I kinda want everything on Etsy. That'd be a big purchase.

I get my Etsy fix by using it to buy gifts for others.

The other night I decided to finally indulge in some Etsy magic for myself!!

When the mail came - it was like the best Christmas ever!!

Brightly colored buttons from mamacateyes

A super cute handmade owl pin from stelabird

And a perfectly put together package of prints (ha!) from schmancypants

I don't ever want to use them - they're that pretty!

Sew to Speak

I am so excited for the weekend!!

Duh. Okayyyy sorry that was an obvious and pointless statement.

Who is not excited for the weekend?

What I meant to say was... This weekend, we are going to be checking out the new cute little fabric shoppe in town! This little shop is something that I just discovered a couple of days ago and then found out that it has only been in Columbus for a year (although I'm sad I didn't know about it from day ONE!).

It is called Sew to Speak. Check out their blog!

I was whining about how there are no good fabric stores around here to get amazing prints... all we have is Jo-Anns. Everyone has Jo-Anns. Jo-Anns only inspires me to a certain degree.

I want to walk into a fabric store and I want my HEAD TO EXPLODE. You know??

My head exploded when I walked into MOOD in New York but that is another obvious statement.

Sew To Speak is full of vibrant fabrics by many of the very bestest print designers that I admire.

To name a few.

I told Evan that we should think of a budget before walking into the store. At the same time we both shouted out a number. He said $30 and I said $600. Well there ya go.

So does that mean the compromise would be $315? Meeting in the middle!

Isn't that what marriage is all about?

I will definitely have to restrain myself. Kid in a candy store will not even describe it.

Money does not buy happiness... but money buys fabric which brings happiness.

So I guess it's an enabler to happiness.

Vanity

When Evan and I moved to Ohio, we discussed that a noticeable amount of people had vanity license plates on their cars. Now, clearly we saw that while we were in Michigan too - or any other state for that matter - but we really felt like while here... we saw what felt like a LOT of them.

It became our hobby to take pictures of the ones we saw, when we had the opportunity.

We have lived here a little over two years now. We've probably SEEN hundreds. The camera isn't always in our possession when we spot them, or they're driving by fast or the owner is right by the car and we don't want to be creepy... so we obviously couldn't catch them all.

They're entertaining... and it always becomes a game to spot the 'really good' ones. And psychologically analyze and pass judgement upon the owners. After all... why else would they put these messages on their modes of transportation?
